Day 11 started with the longest drive in the road trip to the famous city LA. The journey from Lake Havasu is actually around 4 hours and 30 minutes but as we had to take a lunch break it turned out to be a long 6 hour journey. We stopped for lunch and a toilet break at a nice little picnic spot where we met this very kind and generous lady who was with her grandchildren. After a long break for lunch we left for the hotel in LA called The Highland Gardens Hotel. Two rooms were standard double rooms and one was executive suite which had a kitchen. After checking in and settling in, we went on a walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame as the hotel was not too far from there. We went shopping to the shops on the street and even bought some Ray Bans! The Hollywood Walk of Fame was packed with many people and all sorts of things happening on the path walks. People were walking in different directions and walking into each other while some were in the way of famous stars as many people had come to see the stars. We got to an area where famous actors and actresses had carved their handprint and footprints in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. This was so fascinating to see different celebrities hand and footprints. The pavements had Spiderman and Mickey Mouse characters who took photos with tourists. As the sun set we walked back home and prepared scrumptious homemade pasta and due to the long journey we came across today we all slept early ready to tour beautiful LA early in the morning.
August 12th began by having breakfast at a reasonable time before all 12 of us walked back to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and found a tour company called Star Track Tours where we then drove for around 2 hours and saw different spots of Hollywood. The tour was just a drive through tour and we weren’t able to get out of the bus to take photos but they would stop just outside a few places and we were able to take photos from the bus. The first place the tour took us to was the Hollywood sign. We then saw many famous celebrities homes such as David Beckham’s, Justin Bieber’s, Beyonce and Jay Z’s, Katy Perry’s and Michael Jackson’s homes. We also drove past Rodeo Drive and drove along Sunset Boulevard and then through Beverly Hills and saw a Yellow Rolls Royce! Once the tour had finished, we headed back to the hotel and had a quick lunch which consisted of homemade sandwiches. After the light lunch, some of us headed to have a nap while some walked back to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to find Ellen Degeneres’ star but it was too far for them to walk to so they wondered about for a while and returned back to the hotel. For dinner, we waited for the parents to prepare Fajitas and so while it was being prepared the kids played table tennis and relaxed outside the room on the sun beds near the pool to entertain themselves. Soon day 12 came to an end and the last night to sleep in LA had arrived.
The next morning, it was good bye to LA and left for our next journey towards Morro Bay. Morro Bay is a coastal city in California and is well known for Morro Rock which is an old volcanic rock at Morro Rock Beach. However, an hour into the journey we stopped at Zuma beach in Malibu and spent an hour there. We dipped our feet into the warm sea and walked around the beach taking photos and soaking the sun in before washing our sandy and wet feet near a tap and preparing to return back to the van. After about 4 hours, we arrived at the overnight accommodation at the Morro Shore Inn. The inn room we stayed in was a deluxe double room which had 2 double beds. Thereafter checking in, we went to Morro Rock just before sunset where we saw the huge volcanic rock stumped on the beach and took a few photos. The girls had their first ever jumping photo as a group and since this day the “jumping pose” must be taken in all holidays that we travel to. We wrapped the day up with our last Taco Bell of the holiday! Taco Bell is still missed till this day and every now and then we crave the lovely tacos.
